(without losing your mind)
Let me start this one off by saying that I’m a strong believer that everyone is beautiful but I know the anxieties that come with knowing your wedding day is one of the most photographed, celebrated, and emotionally charged days of your life. So, it’s no surprise that many brides want to look and feel their absolute best—glowing, confident, and full of energy. But prepping your body doesn’t have to mean crash diets or obsessive routines. It’s about taking care of yourself from the inside out.
Here are five smart and sustainable ways to prep your body for your big day:
1. Hydrate Like It’s Your Job
Water is the ultimate beauty secret. Staying hydrated improves your skin’s glow, helps with digestion, reduces bloating, and keeps your energy up. Start building a hydration habit at least 2–3 months out.
Pro Tip: Add lemon or cucumber slices for flavor and a natural detox boost. Aim for at least 64 ounces a day, or more if you’re working out regularly.
2. Create a Consistent Fitness Routine
This isn’t about dropping three dress sizes—unless that’s a personal goal. Moving your body regularly can help you feel stronger, more energized, and less stressed during the planning process.
Try This: Mix in light strength training, walking, yoga, or pilates 3–5 days a week. Find what feels good and stick with it!
3. Focus on Nourishing, Not Restricting
Wedding stress might tempt you to skip meals or go on extreme diets. But under-eating can lead to fatigue, poor skin, and increased anxiety. Instead, think about what you can add to your meals: leafy greens, healthy fats, protein, and antioxidant-rich fruits.
Balance > Restriction. A steady, balanced approach will leave you looking and feeling radiant.
4. Establish a Skincare Ritual Early
Flawless wedding-day skin is about consistency, not quick fixes. Visit a professional esthetician 6–9 months before the wedding for guidance based on your skin type. If that’s not in the budget, start simple at home.
At-Home Basics:
- Cleanse morning and night
- Exfoliate weekly
- Use a quality moisturizer and SPF daily
- Drink. More. Water. (See #1!)
5. Sleep Like It’s Self-Care (Because It Is)
Sleep is often the first thing to go during wedding planning, but it’s your secret weapon for everything from clear skin to a calm mind. Aim for 7–9 hours a night, and try to shut down screens at least 30 minutes before bed.
Bonus: A short meditation or journaling session before bed can help quiet wedding-related worries.
Final Thoughts:
Prepping your body for your wedding isn’t about achieving perfection—it’s about feeling confident, comfortable, and present on a day you’ll never forget. Start early, be kind to yourself, and remember: your fiancé already thinks you’re stunning.
